Hourly Home Care

Flexible, reliable, thriving

At Walfinch, we believe  your care should you fit around you, not the other way around. Hourly home care is a fantastic, flexible option for people who need a touch of support during the day.

You can have as many or as few hourly calls as you want. It’s your care, on your terms.

What you want from your hourly care, depends on what you want from your lifestyle. Do you need support with everyday domestic tasks, someone to chat to and spend time with, or support with personal care? We can make your care reflect your needs, designing your care plan to help you get the most out of life.

During their hour-long visits, our Walfinch carers can help you with things like:

  • Support with mobility and movement
  • Domestic tasks, such as cleaning and meal preparation
  • Support with dressing and grooming
  • Support with getting in and out of bed
  • Medication management
  • Support with showering, toileting or eating
  • Keeping an eye on your wellbeing

Getting support with some or all of the above, can be your first step to gaining greater independence – all fitting around your schedule.

For each one hour visit, our carer will promote at least 10 mins of physical activity. That may be something as small as supporting you on a walk around the garden or working together on some seated exercises. We always keep activities realistically suited to our clients’ individual abilities.

If you prefer to thrive in a different way, such as listening to music, we can adapt our promise to reflect that. It’s about finding what makes you tick and doing more of it.

Because it’s never enough just to survive; let’s make it time to thrive.

One hour in the morning.

This may be suited to someone who needs support getting out of bed, showering and dressing. During this time, our carers could also prepare breakfast – so you’re set up for the day.

One hour at lunch.

Our carers could spend your 1 hour visit preparing your lunch, helping you with medication, spending quality time with you to boost your wellbeing, and ensuring you are able to fit 10minutes of activity into your day.

One hour in the afternoon.

You may want to use this visit as an opportunity to relax, with our carers supporting you with light household work and spending some quality time with you. Alternatively, the afternoon might be a good opportunity to pop to the shops with the support of our carer. It’s your care, on your terms.

One hour in the evening.

This may be suited to someone who needs support before bed. Our highly trained and compassionate carer could help you with undressing, showering, medication management, and getting into bed.

Hourly home care can also provide your family with the reassurance they need – we can provide regular updates on your wellbeing and keep them in the loop. That way, they can focus on spending time with you in the ways that truly matter: having a laugh, sharing stories, and thriving together.

Expert answers to your frequently asked questions about hourly home care.

Hourly home care refers to short,one-hour visits from a qualified Walfinch carer, helping you to get the most out of your day. They may help you with eating, dressing, showering within the home, or provide support beyond at-home care. What you do in your hour is up to you.

It entirely depends on your needs and how you feel that hour is best spent. A Walfinch carer could help with meal preparation, medication management, or personal care. If you need greater support outside the house, we could accompany you to the shops and help you unpack when you get back home. Whatever helps you to thrive, do it with Walfinch.

Depending on your availability, we can carry out a friendly care assessment and match you with our care team members very quickly. To find out more, feel free to contact your local branch.

Our carers undergo comprehensive specialist training, equipping them to support you to thrive. Beyond care training, we also try to match you with carers that share similar interests to you and can best get on with you. These important details will be written into your care plan and members of our care team will be matched accordingly.

We train our carers in-house, the Walfinch way. They undergo comprehensive and specialist training so that they can care for people with a wide range of needs. We have very high standards regarding training – meaning our carers must pass a series of in-person examinations, training sessions and online learning before helping people in their own homes.

A care plan contains all the relevant information our carers need to understand and cater to your individual needs. It is created off the back of care assessments, which may be carried out on an ongoing basis, to ensure all your information and requirements are up to date. We view your care plan as your roadmap to thrive.
