Understanding physical injuries

Accidents and injuries happen. We’re here to support you on the road to recovery, helping you to reach your personal health goals quicker.

Your care is tailored around your individual situation – using healthcare expertise to guide how we can help you. We are able to support you both on a long-term or short-term basis, depending on what you want from your care. At Walfinch, we believe your care should fit you – not the other way around. That’s why we prioritise flexibility, adaptability and personalisation in all that we do.

Our specialist carers can help you with things like:

  • Post-injury rehabilitation
  • Travel to and from appointments
  • Medication management
  • Domestic and everyday tasks
  • Personal care, if required

Depending on the severity of your injury, you can require short-term or long-term care. We can personalise your care to best reflect your needs and the trajectory of your recovery.

We all have individual situations. For some people, short-term care may be the way forward. For others, they may prefer a long-term solution. But what’s the difference between these, and how do you know what you need?

Short-term care

This is ideal for someone who wants support returning from hospital, post-injury or post-operation. Our carers can support you with everyday tasks which you may not be able to do as easily, during this time. Short-term care can last anywhere from hours, to days, to weeks.

Long-term care

This care is suited to someone who has perhaps sustained a more serious injury, with a bigger impact on their life. Our carers can support you on an ongoing basis with everyday tasks, personal care, and support getting to and from doctor’s appointments. Long-term care can last as long as you choose.

Everyone’s journey is different, and we all thrive in different ways. It’s our job to help you navigate these uncertain times – and continue living life to the fullest.

Before starting care, we will carry out a friendly care assessment – to meet you and your family in-person, and to better understand your individual situation. From here, we can start creating your care plan. This takes your individual needs into account, as well as your nuanced routines, your lifestyle preferences, and your rehabilitation goals.

Your care plan acts as a North Star for your thriving journey, helping you get where you want to, more quickly. It can be regularly updated, providing you with a personalised plan that adapts to you.

By investing in care, you can help take the pressure off your friends or family, who may currently be providing informal care for you.

This is your first step to taking control of your health and winning that crucial independence. Knowing you’re being looked after can help put your loved ones’ minds at ease, allowing you to spend time together without worrying about your wellbeing.

Start thriving today through quality care

It’s never too early to kickstart your thriving journey. Use your care to take control back over your life and your health – and we can navigate these uncertain times together.

We don’t see care as the end – it’s just the next chapter. It’s never been easier to live better for longer. Through various techniques and approaches to care, tailored around your lifestyle and goals, you can make now your time to thrive.

Expert answers to your frequently asked questions about physical injuries care.

This care is suited to people who may have recently had an operation or sustained a physical injury which impacts their lifestyle. It can be anything from recovering from broken bones, or something more complex.

You can receive physical injuries care both on a long-term and short-term basis – it’s personalised around your situation and individual rehabilitation goals. Some of our clients have only needed help for a few weeks. Others have chosen to invest in a more long-term solution, lasting from months to even years.

Absolutely! Our carers are specially trained to best support you in and beyond your home – helping you get more out of your days. We honour your nuanced routines, to make your rehabilitation journey as un-intrusive as possible. At Walfinch, we believe your care should fit around you, not the other way around.

Your recovery may not be as quick as you want it to be, depending on the severity of your injury. For some people, injuries become life-long. We don’t see our clients as ‘needing to be fixed’, and we cannot guarantee your body will be the same as it was prior to injury. But we can work with you to better adapt your lifestyle and help support you through those tough days – helping you to thrive in old and new ways.

Our carers can’t provide you with exercises – a qualified physiotherapist will do this for you. But we can support you with completing these exercises on a regular basis and help you navigate the road to recovery. We can also support you with other forms of exercise, such as walks or gardening – so you can thrive in more ways than one.
