Ian Tompson
Managing Director
Ian Thompson began his career in investment banking, working as an equity trader where he gained a broad range of business experience and insight. After 12 years, he sought a more rewarding path and turned his focus to the social care sector, leading to the launch of Walfinch Welwyn and Bishop’s Stortford.
Ian is committed to delivering the premium standard of care that Walfinch is known for, guided by the ethos “Do as you would be done by.” He is passionate about providing the same level of compassionate, high-quality support for clients that he would want for his own family.
Outside of work, Ian enjoys family life in Hertfordshire, where they share a love of sports. He is also a keen runner and has completed several marathons.
Sophia O’Brien
Operations Director
Sophia O’Brien has been in the care industry since 2017, bringing a wealth of knowledge to her role as Operations Manager. Sophia is proud to bring her skills of leadership, strategic thinking and emotional intelligence to Walfinch Welwyn and Bishop’s Stortford, supporting our Walfinch carers to deliver thriving care to our clients.
Prior to Walfinch, Sophia graduated from Royal Holloway University of London with a BA Hons in Management & French, in 2011. Since then, she also completed her Level 5 in Health & Social Care – equipping her to support the delivery of outstanding care to people with a wide range of needs.
Sue Peate
Registered Manager
Sue Peate has been in the care industry since 1992, bringing a diverse wealth of knowledge to her role as Registered Manager. Sue brings her skills of people management, organisation and leadership to Walfinch Welwyn and Bishop’s Stortford, ensuring clients and carers can safely and effectively thrive together.
Sue completed her Health and Social Care Managers Diploma Level 5 in 2016. Beyond this, Sue is also a qualified mental health first aider and specialises in Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Brain Injury, Learning Disabilities and Autism.
Lisa Pettifer
Field Care Manager
Lisa has been in the care industry since 2008, bringing practical and effective expertise to her role as Care Supervisor, as well as a proud champion of medications and culture.
Lisa brings her skills of people management, reliability, and adaptability to Walfinch Welwyn and Bishop’s Stortford, ensuring our clients’ care best reflects their individual needs – helping them win back the time to thrive.
